Literacy Blog #2

One of the books that I am reading right now was one that I found in Mr. Toms library. It's called Outside Shooter by Thomas J. Dygard.

Today's blogging is about connections that you have with your book. First I should tell you a little about the book. What happens is Bloomfeild High School is looking for a new basketball coach so Deke Warden applies for the job. He even turns down an NBA contract just to lead the team! But the team last year, the team had its struggles and Deke is worried that they don't carry on to this year.

One connection that I have to the book is Deke's feelings the night before the Bulldogs first game. He had a bad sleep the night before because he was having nightmares about the game and the season. I can relate because I also get like this before the first game of the season, or before a big, important game against a rivalry team or something. Even if I know that someone is coming to my games and I want to impress them, I will get especially nervous. I end up getting myself worked up and I will be extra hard on myself during the game. Like Deke, I have trouble falling asleep the night before, for similar reasons. He is having nightmares about the team loosing 50-0, and I over think about everything. He wants to do a good job coaching, and I want to do a good job playing.
